NARI Selects RHRC for 2nd Phase of TeDP Research

has been awarded a Phase II research program by the
NASA Aeronautics Research Institute,
under the new Leading Edge Aeronautics Research for NASA (LEARN) program.
The RHRC program is entitled "Turbo-electric Distributed Propulsion Test Bed
Aircraft," and will continue building a wind tunnel and CFD database for a test
bed aircraft using TeDP. The Phase I
program involved CFD design studies and the design, fabrication, and wind tunnel
testing of a TeDP concept with 3 independent electric ducted fans. The
Phase II program expands the study to include the 3D effects of a TeDP
installation on a wing, including power affects on lift and pitching moment.
The results of the Phase I study can be
